Building a pool: from planning to commissioning

Plan before work begins
Define the use, dimensions, depths and plant-room location. Review levels, pipe routes and the relationship between the pool, building and surrounding paths, then agree drawings and specifications. Early decisions help coordinate the work and reduce changes that become difficult once the structure is complete.
Coordinate the structure and services
Site preparation, reinforcement and embedded pipework need to follow a coordinated design. Outlets, lights and pipe penetrations influence later stages. Review these details before they are covered or the related concrete elements are poured.
Prepare for waterproofing and finishes
The waterproofing system needs prepared surfaces and careful detailing at joints and penetrations. Adhesive, grout and tiles should form a compatible finishing system, applied in accordance with the relevant instructions and curing periods. Edges, levels and junctions influence both appearance and ongoing care.
Check, commission and hand over
Inspect the completed work and commission circulation, filtration and the specified equipment. Handover should explain operation and maintenance and retain equipment information. Completion means a pool ready for use, with clear care requirements as well as finished surfaces.
